Coney Island Revisited Dit project zoekt naar een duurzame oplossing voor de veranderende omstandigheden op Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. Tien platforms samen met de buurtstructuur vormen een nieuw veer- krachtig, ‘faciliterend’ netwerk. De staalstructuur vormt een ‘tijdelijk permanent’ platform waarin onafhankelijke functionele volumes en toepas- singen geconfigureerd kunnen worden. Op deze manier kunnen de platforms reageren op fluctu- aties in de noden van de buurt in verschillende condities - droog, overstroomd, crisis, voorspoed. De staalelementen zijn verzinkt en de onderste bouwlaag is zoutwaterwerend gecoat. Het staal is overal zichtbaar gelaten. Dix plateformes combinées à la structure du quartier forment un nouveau réseau ‘facilitatif’ dynamique. La structure en acier forme une plate- forme ‘intemporelle’ dans laquelle des volumes et des applications fonctionnels indépendants peuvent être configurés. De cette manière, les plateformes peuvent réagir aux fluctuations des besoins du quartier dans différentes conditions : sécheresse, inondation, crise, prospérité. Les éléments en acier sont galvanisés et la couche de construction infé- rieure est revêtue pour être protégée contre l’eau salée. L’acier est laissé visible partout.
